Last liquid updose!!

I'm excited to report that Brandon took his final liquid updose in office on 3/18!!  This is yet another HUGE milestone for him on this journey!  Since our Day 1 of OIT (5/22/18), he's been ingesting a kool-aid type solution with peanut flour in it every day.  The amount of peanut flour in that solution has steadily increased as he's proceeded, and we maxed out on Monday at 2 mL of 25 mg/mL of peanut flour, so 50 mg of peanut flour.  He had a smooth updose on Monday, and now we hold at this dose for 2 weeks.  Then on Monday 4/1, we have his next appointment to ingest a fraction of a REAL PEANUT!! 🥜 I can hardly believe I'm saying that, truthfully!  It's going to be a minuscule amount of peanut (.1g, or essentially 1/6 of one peanut), but still, it'll be an actual peanut he has to ingest!  We are both excited, nervous, cautious, and optimistic about this next huge step.  It's a reason to celebrate for sure!

When he gets to fractions of peanuts, that will make him safer against accidental ingestion or cross contamination worries.  It opens up a whole new world for him, because while he won't be eating Reese's or peanut M&Ms yet 😉, he WILL be safe to sit at a table with kids eating peanut butter or other peanut products at lunch now.  Exclusion at the lunch table (by his own choice) has been a way of life for him since starting school, and being able to lift that limitation for him will be a giant step forward.  It makes my heart happy for him.  💗

Here's a picture of him taking that final liquid updose.  😀  Next stop - fractions of peanuts!!  We appreciate all prayers for his continued safety . . . . the trepidation and caution still isn't gone for either of us, so please pray especially for Brandon's mind, confidence, safety, and success.  🙏💚  Many thanks, friends!

I'll be sure to update as soon as possible after our April 1st appointment!

Until then,
~MKB (Momma Knows Best)  🐢💚
